Canaan Valley offers a variety of activities throughout the year.  The valley is well known for skiing from early December to the end of March because of the tremendous snowfalls that blanket the area.  From April to October it's the perfect time to bike, canoe, fish, hike or horseback ride.  If you're into extreme sports, Canaan Valley also boasts the best area for mountain biking.  Outside magazine has noted the Valley as one of the best places in the United States for cycling and climbing. Just 30 minutes south there is Seneca Rocks for technical rock climbing. Seneca is known as the highest climbable point east of the Mississippi that requires you to have advanced technical climbing skills in order to summit.

The cool days of autumn are the best opportunities to take in the palette of colors of the fall foliage during a day hike, a winding drive or a scenic train ride. The clear crisp evenings are ideal for walks around the resort, stargazing or warming up by the firepit.
