The Corridor H project has been envisioned since 1965.  However, it wasn't until the year 2000 that it was given the green light.  This project allows for easy access from the DC metro area to Canaan Valley region at 65 mph through a 4 lane highway called Route 55.  This highway will eventually take away the curvy single lane road which means less travel time.  Presently two sections has been opened for commuter traffic from Baker to Moorefield.
